Lousada Historic Market 2026
Four days of stepping back in time on Avenida Senhor dos Aflitos, recreating the late-17th-century fair that gave rise to the town.
From 7 to 10 June, Avenida Senhor dos Aflitos turns into a late-17th-century fair that brings the post-Restoration era back to life. Lousada’s Historic Market recreates daily life in a rural settlement shaped by trade, with merchants, artisans and taverns conjuring the atmosphere of times gone by.
The event represents the old settlement of Torrão, which gave rise to the town of Lousada. Sitting on one of the main routes of the early modern period — the road linking Porto to the Basto region and Trás-os-Montes — it was a thoroughfare for muleteers, troops, couriers and travellers, and by the mid-18th century its fortnightly fair was among the busiest in the region.
Merchants, artisans and taverns wishing to take part can contact the organisers at seiscentista@cm-lousada.pt. Check opening times with the Town Council before you go.
