With the higher fire-risk months approaching, Lousada Municipal Council is stepping up the clearing and maintenance of rural and forest paths across several parishes in the municipality. The work includes managing fuel-break strips and clearing roadside verges, aiming to reduce the risk of fire spreading and to improve safety conditions.

According to the council, kilometres of clearing have been carried out over recent weeks to prevent forest fires and make it easier for firefighters to intervene, in coordination with the municipality’s Civil Protection service.

The council is also appealing to landowners to clear their own plots by 30 June, contributing to collective prevention ahead of the summer. Anyone unsure about their clearing obligations should contact the municipal services.
