Lousada wins International Educating Cities Award
"BioGerações", a project bringing young people and seniors together around environmental education, earned the municipality an international honour presented in Barcelona.
The municipality of Lousada has been honoured with the International Educating Cities Award, granted by the international association of the same name, for its “BioGerações” project. The award was presented in Barcelona and placed Lousada among the three municipalities recognised in this edition, alongside São Paulo (Brazil) and Medellín (Colombia).
The project stood out among 61 entries from 48 cities across ten countries. “BioGerações” sets out to bring young people and seniors together through environmental-education activities, encouraging the exchange of knowledge across generations and raising awareness of sustainability.
The recognition reinforces the municipality’s focus on education, social inclusion and environmental stewardship — areas at the heart of its policies in recent years.
