The Tâmega e Sousa Local Health Unit (ULS) — the service that covers the municipality of Lousada — improved the key indicators in its emergency departments between 2024 and 2025, according to daily emergency-service monitoring data released by the institution.
The average time to a first medical assessment dropped from 56 minutes in 2024 to 44 minutes in 2025, the best result among the country’s largest local health units. The share of patients leaving before being discharged also fell, from 3.7% to 2.9%, the second best among the big units.
For Lousada residents who rely on the region’s emergency services, the figures point to shorter waits and faster care. The administration credits the improvement to its health professionals and a sustained push to raise the quality of care.
