Some people are still glued to the World Cup; others are already doing the math for next season. Portugal’s clubs are firmly in the second group — the summer market is open and the phones won’t stop.
At Benfica, the name of the moment is Tomás Araújo. Borussia Dortmund are reportedly watching closely and have sent scouts to take a look, but so far it’s just that — looking. No formal bid yet. With a release clause around €80 million and a long contract, Benfica are in no rush to let him go cheap.
Over at Sporting, the club has secured Fotis Ioannidis to boost the attack. And there’s the usual churn around the edges — defenders moving on, youngsters stepping up into the top two divisions, loan deals closing.
