Portugal's Group K: meet DR Congo, Uzbekistan and Colombia
Before Wednesday's opener, a quick guide to the three teams standing between Portugal and the knockouts.
Portugal landed in Group K, and before the ball rolls it’s worth knowing who’s on the other side. Three games, three very different stories.
First up, DR Congo, on Wednesday in Houston — the opener. A physically strong side with players scattered across Europe’s leagues, they’re the kind of opponent you beat with patience, not haste. Then, on 23 June, also in Houston, come Uzbekistan, World Cup debutants and the group’s biggest unknown: little-known, and dangerous for exactly that reason.
The real test is saved for last
Closing it out, on 27 June in Miami, is Colombia — probably the toughest match. Quick, technical and used to the big stage, they’re the team most likely to decide who tops the group.
The takeaway for fans: start well on Wednesday and the rest gets a lot easier to manage with a cool head. Sardines aside, this week there’s one more reason to gather everyone in front of the screen.
