Indie Music Fest 2026 is back in Baltar this September, and day one is free
Indie Music Fest 2026 runs 3 to 5 September at Floresta Mágica da Quinta do Cabo in Baltar, Paredes. Dates, tickets, the first names on the bill and the free opening day.
Some festivals fill stadiums. This one fills a clearing in the woods, and that is exactly the point. Indie Music Fest returns to Baltar, in the municipality of Paredes, from 3 to 5 September, once again at Floresta Mágica da Quinta do Cabo, still doing the thing almost nobody else in Portugal does with this much stubbornness: building an entire bill out of Portuguese independent music.
When is Indie Music Fest 2026?
Thursday to Saturday, 3 to 5 September, on the wooded grounds of Quinta do Cabo in Baltar. Organisers expect somewhere around 9,500 people across the three days, which tells you most of what you need to know about the scale. You can see everyone without losing anyone, and you can reach the front of the stage without negotiating with a crowd.
How much are Indie Music Fest tickets?
This is the part worth writing down. The opening day, 3 September, is completely free, running under the Indie Talents banner that gives newer bands a proper stage. For the rest of the weekend there is a general pass, with an early bird batch at 20 euros capped at 150 units — so hesitating costs money. Tickets and the lineup as it fills out are on the festival’s official site.
Who is playing in Baltar?
The first names confirmed are Beatriz Pessoa, Ela Jaguar, Evols, Femme Falafel, Jepards, Nunca Mates o Mandarim, Rapaz Ego and Them Flying Monkeys. No international headliners, no pyrotechnics — just a fairly honest map of what Portuguese musicians are making outside mainstream radio.
If that sounds like your kind of weekend, note that September is quietly becoming the month of human-scale festivals in Portugal, the same instinct that turns an entire village into a festival for four days in August. Baltar is September’s version of that idea — and with a whole day costing nothing, the excuse for skipping it just got weaker.
