Primark is opening four more stores in Portugal, and 300 jobs come with them
The chain is putting over €45 million into the country by summer 2027. The first opening is 2 September at Forum Castelo Branco, the second 10 September at Alegro Setúbal.
Four new stores, an extension to an existing one and around 300 jobs by summer 2027. That is what Primark has under way in Portugal, backed by an investment of more than €45 million.
The first two openings already have dates. Forum Castelo Branco gets the city’s first Primark on 2 September. Eight days later, on 10 September, Alegro Setúbal follows.
Where the other two go
Next come GaiaShopping in Vila Nova de Gaia and central Porto, and the Porto one is worth flagging separately, because it will be the brand’s first street-level store in Portugal. Until now the Irish chain has built its entire Portuguese presence inside shopping centres.
Once all four are trading, Primark will have 18 stores in the country.
What it is worth if you are job hunting
Three hundred jobs spread over four cities does not remake anyone’s labour market, but these are concrete retail vacancies in places that do not see many of them. Castelo Branco and Setúbal in particular are not towns where announcements like this land every month.
Big-box retail hires to a predictable rhythm. Teams get assembled weeks ahead of an opening, which means recruitment for the September stores is already running. Applications go through the brand’s own careers portal, and it is worth reading the shift terms before signing, since retail here runs rotating rosters and weekends.
