Luca Van Assche won the Estoril Open and it is the first title of his career
Luca Van Assche beat Alexander Blockx 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the 2026 Estoril Open final for his maiden ATP title, while Droguet and Jacquet took the doubles.
A final between two players nobody circled at the start of the week usually produces good tennis. This one did.
How did the Estoril Open final finish?
Luca Van Assche beat Alexander Blockx 6-4, 4-6, 7-5, in a match that only resolved itself late in the third set. It is the Frenchman’s first ATP title, and first titles tend to come with that particular face of someone who has not caught up with the news yet. That is roughly what the court showed.
The match followed the classic shape of a tight final: a first set settled by a late break, a second handed back by Blockx just as the Frenchman looked like escaping, and a third in which neither man wanted to be the first to blink. Van Assche simply held the long rallies better.
Worth remembering that this was exactly the unlikely scenario flagged in the preview of the final: two players outside the favourites bracket playing for the trophy in Cascais.
Who won the doubles at the Estoril Open?
The French celebrated twice. Titouan Droguet and Kyrian Jacquet beat Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos 7-6 (7-2), 6-7 (4-7), 11-9 in the super tie-break, one of those matches decided by two points that could have fallen either way.
Portuguese tennis ended the week without a finalist, but the tournament remains the country’s only ATP shop window and the place where a lot of people watch top-level tennis up close for the first time. The full draw and ranking points are on the ATP Tour site.
