World Cup 2026 final: date, kickoff time and how to watch in Portugal
Spain are already in the World Cup 2026 final on 19 July at MetLife Stadium. Here is the date, the kickoff time in Portugal, where to watch and who they might face.
The World Cup 2026 final is on Sunday, 19 July, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, just outside New York. Spain have already booked one of the spots after beating France 2-0 in the first semifinal; their opponent comes from England vs Argentina, which closes out the bracket on Wednesday.
When is the World Cup 2026 final?
It is on Sunday, 19 July. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. US Eastern time, which is 8 p.m. in mainland Portugal — dinner time, in other words, for anyone planning to watch from the sofa. FIFA chose a late-afternoon slot in the US precisely to land in the European prime-time window.
Where can you watch the final in Portugal?
As with the semifinals, the final should air on free-to-air television, within reach of any home with a TV set, alongside coverage on Sport TV. We rounded up the channels and times for the last rounds in our guide to watching the semifinals in Portugal, and the official schedule is always up to date on the FIFA website.
Who will Spain face in the final?
We do not know yet. The second semifinal pits England against Argentina on Wednesday in Atlanta. Whoever comes through, Spain reach the final defending a rare distinction: this is the first World Cup ever in which the top four teams in the FIFA ranking all reached the semifinals.
And there is a show guaranteed before a ball is even kicked: the halftime slot features Madonna, Shakira and BTS, in a lineup curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin — the details are in our piece on the final’s halftime show.
