How does Big Brother Verão 2026 work?
Portugal’s summer edition kicked off on 28 June with 18 anonymous contestants — nine men and nine women — locked into the country’s most-watched house, with Maria Botelho Moniz hosting and a prize that can reach 100,000 euros. Sunday galas settle evictions and leaderships, with special shows through the week; the format, the commentator panel and the prize maths are in our full guide to the season.

Sunday’s gala shook everything loose: Mariana Salgueiro became the week’s evictee and Afonso took over as house leader, opening his reign with a direct nomination for Pedro. In between came the courage button — Nuno pressed it, fattening the final prize by three thousand euros at the cost of a direct nomination — and Joana entered the main house carrying a secret mission.

A surprise mid-week gala caught the house and the audience off guard: João Gomes was the viewers’ choice to leave the show, in the season’s first lightning eviction.
