Lauren Bennett dies at 37: the British voice of Party Rock Anthem and G.R.L.
Lauren Bennett, the British singer from G.R.L. and Paradiso Girls and featured vocalist on LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem, has died at 37. Her bandmates confirmed her death.
If you danced at any party between 2011 and 2013, you almost certainly danced to her voice. Lauren Bennett, the British singer featured on LMFAO’s monster hit Party Rock Anthem and a member of Paradiso Girls and G.R.L., has died at 37. No cause of death has been disclosed.
Who was Lauren Bennett?
Born in England, Bennett reached global pop through Paradiso Girls, a project created in the orbit of the Pussycat Dolls, and earned her place in dance-floor history in 2011 as the featured voice on Party Rock Anthem — one of the best-selling songs of all time, a chart-topper in dozens of countries. Then came G.R.L., with hits like Ugly Heart, in a story already marked by tragedy: bandmate Simone Battle died in 2014.
What did G.R.L. say about her death?
Her bandmates — Natasha Slayton, Emmalyn Estrada and Paula van Oppen — announced the news in a joint statement on social media, saying their hearts are broken and remembering the love, laughter and memories Lauren gave them, and a beautiful spirit that touched so many lives.
Pop’s summer just got a little quieter — in a year when Portugal also said goodbye to Luísa Cunha, the artist who made the country stop and listen. The chorus that never ages now lands differently: every day I’m shufflin’ sounds a touch sadder tonight.
