Spider-Man: Brand New Day breaks records before it even opens
The new Spider-Man trailer became the most-viewed ever, and the film lands on 31 July, with Tom Holland back and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in the mix.
It hasn’t opened yet and it’s already smashing everything. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the new chapter with Tom Holland, arrives in cinemas on 31 July — and the numbers around it are out of this world. The first trailer became the most-viewed ever, with more than 718 million views in 24 hours, and within four days it passed one billion. No marketing budget buys hype like that.
The story and the cast
The premise picks up where No Way Home left off: the world has forgotten Peter Parker exists, and our hero protects New York anonymously while investigating a new threat and watching his powers change in unsettling ways. Alongside Holland, Zendaya returns as MJ, and the cast adds names like Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo back as the Hulk.
Why all the noise
After years of superhero fatigue, Marvel seems to have found the formula that connects with audiences again. Destin Daniel Cretton directs, and the bet is clearly on making this the big summer blockbuster. If the trailer numbers are any guide, the rooms will fill up.
For web-slinger fans, it’s the release circled in red on the calendar. For the studios, it’s proof that Spider-Man remains one of cinema’s strongest brands.
