Sara takes Big Brother Verão with 59% of the vote and a 45,400-euro cheque
TVI's final aired on Friday night, hosted by Maria Botelho Moniz. Bóris finished second on the remaining 41%, Nuno third and João Ventura fourth.
Ten weeks of Portugal’s noisiest summer television ended in a two-way vote, and Sara won it. She is the winner of Big Brother Verão, taking 59% against Bóris in the closing duel. He finished second on the other 41%. The cheque was 45,400 euros.
The final went out on TVI on Friday night, 4 September, hosted by Maria Botelho Moniz and broken up by live music. Nuno came third. João Ventura, the first contestant to secure a place in the final and safe in the house for weeks because of it, ended up fourth.
How the summer played out
Six people reached the last night: Ana Luísa, Bóris, João Ventura, Nuno, Sara and Vanessa. The house had been sealed on 28 June with eighteen contestants, none of them famous, nine men and nine women, and it emptied out over the summer at the rate of one Sunday gala at a time.
The prize itself grew as the season went on. Three days before the final it stood at 44,000 euros, with the channel advertising a possible ceiling of 100,000. It closed at 45,400.
The week before
The penultimate gala, on 30 August, was a double eviction and set the final line-up. Tatiana went first, with 20% of the vote to stay, the lowest of the night. Afonso followed, losing his duel with Ana Luísa by 42% to 58%.
