The Azores get a direct flight to Toronto this summer
Air Canada is beefing up the air bridge between Ponta Delgada and Canada. Great news for the diaspora — and anyone dreaming of a transatlantic hop.
If you’ve got family on the other side of the Atlantic, you’ll like this one. Air Canada is strengthening the link between the Azores and Canada over the summer, with direct flights between Ponta Delgada and Toronto.
The service runs from 11 June to 5 September, three times a week — Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays — on Boeing 737 MAX 8 jets, with Economy and Premium Economy cabins. For the large Azorean community in Canada, that’s one fewer layover and a bit more time at the dinner table with family.
And it’s not just for the diaspora: for anyone in Portugal who’s always wanted to see Toronto without routing through Lisbon or Madrid, a new door just opened. Summer, it seems, is sprouting extra wings.
