Apple's folding iPhone Duo is now in Portuguese shops, from €2,399
The first foldable iPhone went on sale in Portugal on Friday 23 October in four storage sizes priced from €2,399 to €3,899. In the US, online delivery dates slipped to late January within hours of pre-orders opening.
The iPhone Duo, Apple’s first phone that folds in half, has been on sale in Portuguese shops since Friday 23 October. The 256GB model is €2,399 on Apple’s Portuguese store, and the price climbs quickly from there.
There are four sizes. 512GB costs €2,649, 1TB is €3,149, and the 2TB version reaches €3,899. Both colours, star white and night sky, cost the same.
What the money buys
Open, the Duo has a 7.6-inch screen. Closed, it runs on a 5.4-inch outer display with the same aspect ratio as the inner one, so apps don’t reshuffle when you unfold it. Inside is the A20 Pro chip, built on a 2-nanometre process, in a titanium body.
On the back are two 48-megapixel cameras, main and ultra wide, and the FaceTime camera hides under the inner display when it isn’t in use. Fingerprint unlock is back, with Touch ID in the side button. One detail will catch some buyers out: the Duo is eSIM-only, so check that your Portuguese operator can move your number over without a trip to the shop.
Getting hold of one
Apple unveiled the phone on 9 September and opened pre-orders on 16 October, warning that stores would have limited stock for walk-in customers. In the US, online delivery estimates jumped into 2027 within minutes and had reached late January by the end of that day.
Apple’s Portuguese store shows no fixed delivery date, so anyone hoping for one before Christmas should expect to try more than one shop. The Duo was the headline act at the September event where Apple put a new face on stage, and it is the phone the queues are for.
Is it worth it? If you want a tablet that fits in a pocket, maybe. If you just want a new phone, the sums are blunt: the iPhone 18 Pro starts at €1,499 in Portugal, so the hinge costs you €900.
