This is the Oasis reunion from inside the tour, and it opens in Portugal on Thursday

Oasis: Don't Look Back In Anger follows the Live '25 tour and carries the first joint Liam and Noel Gallagher interviews in more than 25 years. Cinemas and IMAX get a limited run before Disney+ takes it.

One image travelled further than any setlist when the tour started: the two brothers standing side by side on stage, arms raised. It took sixteen years to happen. Now it is a film.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger reaches Portuguese cinemas from Thursday, 10 September, IMAX screens included, for a limited engagement. Disney+ gets it exclusively afterwards, internationally. The band’s own announcement confirms the title and the September window in cinemas and IMAX.

What is actually in it

The documentary follows Oasis Live ‘25, the tour that put the Gallaghers back on stage, with access to rehearsals, backstage and the shows themselves. Steven Knight, of Peaky Blinders, created and wrote it. Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace direct — the pair behind Shut Up and Play the Hits and Meet Me in the Bathroom, who have already filmed the end of one band and know what a full room looks like on screen.

The draw is not the concert footage. It is the joint interviews with Liam and Noel Gallagher, their first together in over 25 years. Anyone who followed that relationship through the tabloids will understand why that matters.

Cinema or wait for streaming?

It depends what you want. If you want to see the film, Disney+ will solve that in a few weeks. If you want to hear Champagne Supernova through a cinema sound system with two hundred other people in the room, the window is short and it is this one.

The official trailer has been circulating since August, and the release lands in a busy week for Portuguese screens — Coyote vs. Acme opened here recently, and Portuguese music had its own news with Salvador Sobral’s return to Spotify.

Portugal's readers are reading more and buying less

An APEL study with Nielsen GfK puts the reading rate at 78%, its highest in three years, up from 73% in 2023. Over the same period the share of people who bought at least one book fell from 65% to 62%, and the average per buyer dropped from 7.5 books to 6.9.

More people are reading. Fewer people are paying for it. Both sentences come out of the same study, presented this week at the opening of Book 2.0 at the Centro Cultural de Belém, and the gap between them is the interesting part. Start with the good news. The reading rate went from 73% in 2023 to 76% in 2024 and 78% last year, which is the share of people aged 15 and over who say they read at least one book that year, and the highest figure of the three.…
