GTA VI unlocks on 19 November (and the boxed copy has no disc inside)

Grand Theft Auto VI reaches PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in 16 days, on 19 November. In Portugal the Standard Edition is €79.99 and the Ultimate €99.99. Physical copies contain only a download code, and pre-loading opens on 12 November.

If you pre-ordered GTA VI in a shop and you’re expecting to collect a box with a disc in it, worth knowing now: there isn’t one. The physical edition of the decade’s most anticipated game contains only a download code. In practice you’re buying it digitally, with a case for the shelf.

It’s 16 days away. Grand Theft Auto VI lands on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on 19 November, and Rockstar has already confirmed that pre-loading starts on 12 November, both for digital pre-orders and for anyone holding the code from a boxed copy.

What it costs in Portugal

On the Portuguese PlayStation Store, the Standard Edition is €79.99 and the Ultimate €99.99. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons and clothing tied to the story of Jason and Lucia, the two leads. Standard buyers can upgrade later without buying the game again.

Buy before 20 November and you get the Vintage Vice City Pack: a classic car, themed clothing and an exclusive weapon finish. Digital pre-orders also come with a month of GTA+.

Why the 12th matters

A week’s head start on the download isn’t a nicety. It’s the difference between playing at midnight and spending the night watching a progress bar. Rockstar hasn’t given a file size yet, so clearing space on the console early is a good idea.

If a shop delivers the physical code after the 12th, that head start is gone. Anyone set on playing on day one should check with their retailer when the code arrives.

If you’ve seen none of it

The second trailer, on Rockstar’s own channel, is still the best picture of what’s coming: Vice City, the fictional state of Leonida and a lot of neon. The game is console-only for now, with no PC date announced.

It’s a big week for returning classics: Nintendo’s Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 is out on Thursday too.

Heidi Klum turned up to her 25th Halloween party as her own severed hand

At the New York party she has hosted for a quarter of a century, the model appeared as a giant replica of her left hand, with long red nails, a thumb ring, her engagement ring and her wedding band. Only her eyes and mouth showed. Getting into it took five to six hours.

For weeks Heidi Klum had been dropping hints: a costume that was "very, very bloody" and would go "very well with red wine". On Saturday night, at the 25th edition of the Halloween party she has thrown for a quarter of a century, it made sense. She came as a hand. Her own left hand, blown up to giant size and freshly severed. The detail was obsessive. Long red nails, a ring on the thumb, her engagement ring and her wedding band. Only her eyes and mouth…
