Some things late summer in Cascais always delivers: warmer water, nowhere to park, and Festas do Mar filling the bay. In 2026 the festival once again spreads across two long weekends — 20 to 23 and 27 to 30 August — and keeps the tradition that made it one of Portugal’s biggest free events: nobody pays for a ticket.
When is Festas do Mar 2026?
Festas do Mar 2026 runs from 20 to 23 and from 27 to 30 August in the centre of Cascais, with the festival grounds set up between the Cidadela fortress and the Jardim Visconde da Luz, a few minutes on foot from the Cascais line train station. Beyond the concerts on the bay there is food, crafts and street entertainment right by the Atlantic. Official details are being updated on the Cascais council’s event page.
How much does Festas do Mar cost?
Nothing — entry is free every day, for every concert, as it has always been. That is the secret of its pull: past editions have brought major Portuguese and international names to the bay without anyone reaching for a wallet, and August in Cascais pairs that stage with the most photographed sunset on the coast.
The 2026 line-up is not out yet — the organisers promise an announcement soon, and it tends to be worth the wait. If free August music is your thing, Festas de Loures opens the month with free concerts before the musical tide rolls down to the Cascais shoreline.
