TVI’s summer party returned to the Cascais marina this weekend, but anyone scanning the red carpet noticed who was missing: Cristina Ferreira, Manuel Luís Goucha and Cláudio Ramos — the channel’s three biggest faces — all skipped the celebration, and even director-general José Eduardo Moniz stayed away. Maria Cerqueira Gomes was another no-show, while Fernanda Serrano cited health reasons.
Why did so many stars stay home?
The reasons doing the rounds cover the whole menu: holidays, trips, work commitments and last-minute setbacks. The result was a noticeably thinner turnout than in previous years, with fiction veterans and V+ personalities carrying much of the evening — and social media doing the rest, where the Portuguese equivalent of “a ghost town” circulated rather more than the channel would like.

Has Cristina Ferreira explained her absence?
Not so far. The presenter — also TVI’s head of fiction and entertainment — has stayed publicly silent, and that silence is exactly what keeps the story alive, with her name riding Portugal’s search trends since Sunday. In television, sometimes the loudest statement is not showing up.
Between headline absences and backstage theories, one classic rule of Portuguese TV was confirmed once again: the party always generates more conversation than the schedule.
