Germany's Hennig is building a factory in Figueira da Foz, with more than 600 jobs promised

Hennig is investing 50 million euros in a new factory in Figueira da Foz — 452 jobs in the first phase and over 600 in total. Here's what it will make.

Good news for Figueira da Foz and the Centro region. Germany’s Hennig has broken ground on its new factory in the Pincho Industrial Zone, in Alhadas — a project set to reshape the district’s jobs map. The prime minister attended the launch, which seals one of the region’s biggest industrial investments in years.

How big is Hennig’s investment?

Fifty million euros. The company bought every available plot in the park, around 107,000 square metres, to build from scratch a unit dedicated to metalworking and mechatronics. Production is due to start in early 2028, once construction wraps up.

How many jobs will it create?

The project foresees 452 jobs in a first phase and more than 600 at full tilt. For a mid-sized city like Figueira da Foz, that’s a number that lands hard — and Hennig has said it wants to work with Portuguese universities and institutes to train young people and keep talent in the country rather than watch it leave.

It’s exactly the kind of industrial bet Portugal has been chasing beyond Lisbon and Porto, in a year when the country’s companies started out more profitable.
