August packs Portugal with festivals, from Paredes de Coura to Kalorama
A guide to Portugal's August 2026 festivals: dates, cities and tickets, from Vagos and Paredes de Coura to Sol da Caparica and MEO Kalorama.
If July was busy, August gives no breaks: Portugal’s map fills up with stages from north to south, and there is a festival for pretty much every taste. Here is the run-down to plan the next few weeks without missing a date.
What festivals are on in August in Portugal?
It kicks off in Vagos, with the Vagos Metal Fest from 5 to 9 August, for the heavy-guitar crowd. At the same time, Sonic Blast brings rock to Praia da Duna dos Caldeirões, in Âncora, from 6 to 8.
Mid-month brings the indie centrepiece: Vodafone Paredes de Coura, on the iconic Taboão river beach, from 12 to 15 August. On the other side of the country, Festival O Sol da Caparica lights up Almada from 13 to 16, with a more danceable, Portuguese-language line-up. CA Vilar de Mouros, the country’s oldest festival, closes out the Minho from 18 to 22.
And the month ends big in Lisbon, with MEO Kalorama on 28, 29 and 30 August, at Parque da Bela Vista.
How much are the tickets?
It depends a lot on the festival and how early you buy. At MEO Kalorama, for instance, the general pass was around 95 euros in the first tiers, rising later to 120 — the golden rule is still to buy early. Always double-check each event’s official site, because prices move in stages and single-day tickets are on sale too.
