Sony RX10 V lands July 9: the super-zoom returns after nine years
Sony has confirmed with an official teaser that a new RX10 will be unveiled on July 9, 2026 — the first model in the super-zoom series since 2017's RX10 IV.
Nearly a decade on, Sony is about to say the name RX10 out loud again. The Japanese brand has published an official teaser — promising the wait is over — confirming that a new camera in the series arrives this Thursday. The RX10 IV, the last of the line, launched in late 2017 and hasn’t been available new for years.
When is the Sony RX10 V announced?
The reveal is set for July 9, 2026, at 3pm Lisbon time (7am Pacific). The teaser shows only a silhouette of the body and lens, but the mere return of the series is news in itself: one-inch-sensor bridge cameras had been all but abandoned by the big manufacturers, shoved into the drawer by smartphones.
What do we know about the specs?
Officially, nothing — worth saying out loud. The rumours, though, point to a 20.1-megapixel stacked one-inch sensor, a ZEISS 24-600mm f/2.4-4 lens, the BIONZ XR 2 processor, bursts up to 24fps, 4K video at 120fps and a price between $1,899 and $1,999. All to be confirmed on Thursday via Sony’s official site.
For anyone who likes one do-everything camera — safaris, birds, the kid’s weekend match — without swapping lenses, it’s the most interesting comeback of the year. After Gemini Omni Flash hit the API, it’s clear July isn’t taking holidays in tech.
