OnePlus is leaving Europe, and owners are left wondering what comes next
OnePlus confirmed it will stop launching phones in Europe and North America. Existing owners keep updates and after-sales support — here is what changes for OnePlus buyers in Portugal.
For a few years, OnePlus was the obvious answer to anyone insisting a good phone had to cost a thousand euros. That run is over: on 16 July the brand confirmed it will stop launching new products in Europe and North America.
What happens if you already own a OnePlus?
Nothing immediate, and that is the good news. The company said existing users keep their rights, including after-sales support and software updates. The phone in your pocket keeps working and keeps getting updates. What disappears is the next one — no new models will reach Portuguese shops.
Why is OnePlus pulling out of these markets?
The decision is part of a wider restructuring inside parent company Oppo. In a market where electronics prices keep rising and people hold on to their phones longer than ever, running a European operation stopped adding up. India remains a priority and the arm there carries on as normal, with the OnePlus N6 recently launched.
There is an irony that is hard to miss. OnePlus built its name on the “flagship killer” pitch and on a community that defended it fiercely in Europe; it is now walking away from the very continent where that reputation was made, in a year when the big brands are betting everything on artificial intelligence to justify flagship pricing. Owners can check support for their model on the official OnePlus site.
